Is that a bad thing? I haven't had a problem out of AMD processors and I like them better than the Intel rigs I've had. I always read about how big and bad the new Intel rigs are but i just can't justify their price. Hopefully I wont be let down by this new quad core AMD.

Depends on what you are doing. Logically, 2 9600s would outperfom 1 9800. However, that is assuming the appliaction(s) you are running can handle and fully utilize both cards, otherwise the 1 9800 will still outperform the 2 9600s because in reality, only 1 of those 2 cards will be used half the time. Programs are getting better though at utilizing more than 1 card though.

Did that rig seriously cost that much because I just did some pricing and I got not that price you gave.

I have to agree with Axeager that price seems off, but if you can get that system at that price good for you. :9 I ran AMD for my first few rigs switched to Intel extreme quad core QX6800 and never looked back. I have to upgrade every year just to have a chance against you guys. So with that said what would be the ultimate gaming rig for today?

This is my second rig from CyberPower and you have to know how to play with the different systems they show to knock the prices down. Even if you use just the AMD configutor on there site you will be still around this price but a few dollars more. Also remember that I already had one of the 9600gt cards that I purchased from TigerDirect that I was going to put in my old puter(this is why I went with dual 9600gt's instead of single or dual 9800 cards).

Ok, the rig I started with had things I didn't need that I already have. I subtracted the keyboard, mouse, speaker system and monitor. this knocked the price down to $919.00. Now add $65.00 to that for shipping and you get $984.00 it is all in how you play with the rigs and there pricing. This doesn't include the second 9600gt that I already had. This second card would have bumped the price up another $200.00 from them thou still not bad. Trust me it is cheaper to let someone like Cyberpower build one than you doing it yourself if you play with the pricing like I did. This rig also included things I wont use, like a flash media reader and a wireless card with antenna. But what the heck if it is cheaper it's like getting them for free.

The Phenom processor is very cheap good for non overclockers. The mobo might not cost too much either.
