Re: Civil's soccer topic
I played pick up games in college and one season in a "league" in college. Most of us played for exercise but there were a few players on our team that had some skill. I pretty much stuck to defense, I'm not very good at advancing the ball but I was pretty good at stopping players and stealing the ball. I played goalie for a few games when our goalie was out with mono. (That's mono, not mano... )I'm not sure if I could run from one end of the field to the other now without requiring some oxygen...
My wife and I are hosting two exchange students for the 2008 - 2009 school year. Both of them want to play soccer (football to them) so I'll be watching a lot of soccer games this Fall. I'm looking forward to it. :9

I used to play soccer. A total of 11 yrs and i quit after my freshman jv year. Growing up i played in different leagues in America. After i was 12, i started playing in Mexico. THe league was more competitve. Mixed age group, and FIFA type rules.

I ordered from them and Eurosport/soccer.com.
When I was in high school we played summer league in the hispanic leagues. We were 16-18 year old white kids playing with grown men. When the season started we got our asses kicked non stop. By the end of the season we were speaking spanish, and holding our own. Then when the next school season started it was like playing against a YMCA kids team because of the competition we were used to.

90% of our Varsity and JV team was from Mexico. A lot of really good players.
