Thread: Amusing Duels/Firefights

So, I posted this over in ][5th Column]['s forum, in a thread titled "Phaedro".. as it had to do with a battle he and I had. But it got me to thinking... who else has run into amusing/funny/memorable altercations with the enemy while on the BF (like being knifed while teabagging a knife victim)?

I just have to tell you that I nearly laughed myself to tears after our little "Duel of fail" last night on Sidhi... and kept have aftershock giggles for the rest of the round.

There I was hoofing my engineer butt from Silo 3 to Silo 1 (a long ass run on foot). I lay out some rollies on the roadway that exits that little "industrial park" between the two silos, the one that seems most commonly used. Then I continue on my merry way. I pause on the Silo 1 side of the "park", as my commander had spotted a sniper in the area a minute or two earlier, so I was scanning rooflines to make sure he was not still around.

Suddenly I was taking small-arms damage, somewhere from behind my position. I turn to see an engineer that had just exited a fast mover and was taking pot shots at me with his SMG (I assume he hopped out of the fastmover due to the proximity of the motion mines). I turned and sprinted towards him, pulling my SMG to the ready, knowing that I needed to get undercover so that I could unload my SMG at a more effective range. I succede in ducking behind a stack of pipes, and then jump from behind them, bullets flying.

We commence the dance of the bullet dodge, me at a slight advantage with a full clip. But alas, my advantage was for not. We both ran dry, neither of us dead.

Out come the knives! ...and the Dance of Fail began. Swish, tap tap, swish, leap tap, swish, dive roll, swish, jump up, tap, swish... and on and on it went, no one scoring a killing blow, accepting the opponents tags as the prize.

On and on we danced (it had to be a good 30 seconds to a minute) untill finally, as though we'd read eachother's minds, we step back from the settling dust, sheathe our blades.. and pull out our only weapons that still have ammo.

The Pilums. Simultaneously we aimed. But he fired his round first... barely did I dance to the side and escape death. Then I fired my round.

And was rewarded with a message that warmed my heart:

I remember Kelderos attackin my ass with some kind of bunny hopping psychotic knife attack at junkyard in jalalabad once... while surrounded by three or four of my teammates... and I went into backpedal mode firing my weapon. I ran out of ammo just as he realized he wasn't going to get me (that's the trick against his attack btw... that bunny hopping slows him down JUST enough that you can run straight backwards and he won't catch you too damn easy) so he turned on the other guys. He wound up taking a pistol shot from me or one of the others that put him down for the count.
