Thread: Age of Empires 3

Does anybody play Age of Empires 3? I just started a week or so ago with a now-level 27 city named Mini Berlin. If you play it, we should do an online team match.

If you don't know what Age of Empires 3 is, it's a really good real-time strategy game that seems, at least to me, very well-balanced. You can make light/heavy infantry, light/heavy cavalry, mercenaries, several different kinds of artillery, some cool ships, and there are a lot of buildings/upgrades to make in general. It's also got some great historical references in there. (If you know some history, you'd find the "Tulip Speculation" line-of-sight upgrade for the Dutch hilarious.)

Every side gets an Explorer at the start of a match who can scout around and find treasures, giving you small resource boosts or something like a rescued scout to join your team. Also, as you destroy enemy stuff and build things, you get experience which can be used to send shipments from your home city. These take about 30 seconds to arrive after ordering them, and can give you nice things like extra units, resources, upgrades, and supply wagons that turn into buildings. As your city levels up (getting experience helps this, so it's good for more than shipments) you can choose more shipment cards and put them into your deck. Some shipment cards can only be sent once, and others as many times as you want. Your deck holds 20-25 cards at a time, so it's important to choose the ones you think will help you the most.

Anyways, I've not played the campaigns yet, but the game is really good from what I've played. Somebody want to play a match sometime?
