I never knew there was thunder/lightning in the winter but I just heard a very loud crack of thunder. Right now it is snowing very heavily with 40mph winds with gusts much higher so when I first heard it I thought my house was collapsing, but my roommates agreed, it was definitely thunder.

I guess because I live way in the north I have never seen lightning in the winter but people further south probably think it is normal. But lightning in a snow storm, that is crazy.

Ahhh, that is interesting. This must be a lake effect thunderstorm because I am right on the great lakes. I have never heard/seen thunder/lightning here in the winter before so I just thought it was very odd.
