Not saying they are the only ones cheating, but they are the only ones stupid enough to get caught, and smug enough to act like it was no big deal. Fakers.

Every pro sports team that ever won any championship "bought" it. All the players get paid to play - some teams get better returns on their investments or win rings with lower payrolls.

A more proper analysis would be to state that if the Celtics win the ring, they will have over-paid for their championship compared to lesser teams with lower payrolls.

    right?

Anyone who implys that only Boston cheats in any sport.. is just plain stupid. Cheating has been a way of life in sports for decades in every sport with every team. Whether its as simple as faking an injury to buy time or as serious as using steroids... its nothing new and people shouldnt be shocked about it. Why do the patriots take so much heat over it?... cause they are a high profile team with multiple recent championships. If Oakland got caught would it have been as serious?... no because they havent even been remotely good recently and dont have any high profile players in the spotlight like tom brady.

Cheating is almost normal.. not that that is a good or bad thing.. but still.. get over it.. ill bet all the money i own that your favorite or hometown team does the same exact thing.

Now that said.. the spurs play dirtier than any other team in the league... is it a legit strat?... yes it is but that still doesnt make it any less gay. Id love for kobe to show that they dont need shaq to win so would be happy if they won. As for the Celts.. i wouldnt consider it buying a ring if they won... Many teams have traded or gotten high profile talent and not won jack shit... they just have good chemistry. And i would love to see pierce allen and KG get a ring. They do deserve it.

Wow this has gone off topic, but I like the direction it's going in. My thoughts:

fuck the spurs, bunch of dirty cheating bastards (horry's check on west's weak back).

i just hope those dirty fags from the east (celtics) don't make it.
As much as I would love to see the hornets in the finals, I knew it wasn't going to happen. I did expect them to fall to the lakers in 6 in the wcf. I think it was john hollinger over at espn who said this (sorry, can't find the source)- no team who has been in the playoffs for the 1st time in 5+yrs (or maybe it was 3yrs) has gone on to win the finals. The closest to actually achieve this was the nj nets led by byron scott. Prior to that, you have to go back to the late 80s to find a team that went to the finals in that situation. You can't fly until you learn to fall, right?

IMO the only dirty player on the spurs is bowen. He's the best defender in the nba, but he just so happens to employ extra tricks to be even more effective.

I really like the idea of a throwback to the 80's final between the Lakers and Celtics. I can't stand Detroit because they have owned my Orlando Magic the last couple playoffs...

Between Lakers and Celtics, I'd root for the Celtics.
Don't worry about your magic. In fact, cp3 and howard have yet to peak. Look for them to have an even better season. Traditionally, the cornerstone of a great dynasty is a great center; and orlando definitely has one. They'll soon be able to get over the hump that is detroit.

I will automatically root for any western team in the finals because it's where the hornets play. It gives me some satisfaction knowing they're in the better conference (if they win of course).

I'm not a pats fan, but I would've loved to see them go 19-0. I really wanted to see history being made. Oh well, that leaves the door open for the saints. I really don't know why the pats were heavily favored to win the super bowl. My fears were justified even more when I read this article:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...1&sportCat=nfl

Easterbrook states that no passing leader has ever won the super bowl. I don't buy his reasons as to why but it's an interesting stat nonetheless. I can't find a logical explanation save for the fact that it's a statistical anomaly that should've ended a long time ago (much like the buc's streak of not having a kick off returned for a td [which was recently accomplished])

Final note: Yes I highly value stats that are based on history like the hollinger and easterbrook I mentioned earlier even though you can consider it a form of gambler's fallacy. You can be sure I don't take this route when it comes down to poker or gambling (notice I separated the two )

^.^ one problem rage.... im not a pats lover.. actually not really a pats fan at all.. im a redskins fan... but i just find the idea that the Pats are the only people/team cheating ridiculous. They just happened to get caught because:

#1 They were in a high profile position due to the superbowls and wins which means they were asking for trouble.
#2 The Jets got bitchy and pissed off and ended up a tattle tale.
#3 They have a "pretty boy" in Tom Brady who some other people in the league dont like
#4 They were not careful enough about it because imo they got overly confident due to their success.

And its just silly for people to discuss the pats like they are a disgrace to sports... when 99% of teams and players cheat in some form or way to win or be successful... sad but true. Might not always be serious rule breaking but even flopping to make a foul look more serious is borderline cheating.
