Re: Thorax?
Downloading latest patch and I'll be making a character in a minute then.
Then I'll be busy for four hours trying to figure out how the game works!
I remember the coolest thing I remembered about the last time I played was that it had a calculator... in the game, omg. I was like "That's freaking awesome!"

Re: Thorax?
That depends. Our alliance has strict policy against recruiting new players. It's unfortunately a necessity to make sure you have skilled people in the kinds of ships you need to survive.
For example, my Nighthawk costs about 500 mil ISK to buy and fit correctly. That's out of the realm for most players to buy and fly.
However... we have skills whips that can help you train the skills you need to start contibuting within 3 months of starting an account. We tend to let those players in the corp under special circumstances (i.e. they've shown a desire to be a pvp whore). Although... we have training courses for new players because believe it or not, in-game skill matters as much as knowing how to play the game.
So in that regard I can help your entire corp out. Also we are always looking to absorb corp and swell our numbers. But that doesn't sound like it's something you guys are ready for, and unfortunately, IRON is not accepting applications for corps to join the alliance.
So to answer your original question, skill points matter very little compared to desire, will and the ability to play as a team.
We sorta took the approach TTP did in that regard. We could care less about the "leet speaking" assholes who think their SP is god-like. We'd much rather take teamplayers and turn them into killers than vice versa. And guess what, we're taking EVE by storm.

Re: Thorax?
I have a question about alliances...who runs an alliance? Is it a coordination of all corp CEO's in the alliance? Or just one guy?

Re: Thorax?
There is one corp that acts as executor. They are responsible for paying the alliance fees. You have to spend 1 BILLION ISK to start an alliance. Then for every corp in that alliance you are charged a fee. The CEO of the executor is the guy who holds the keys, but anyone who thinks they are going to rule from on high is sadly mistaken. All the other CEO's generally acts as a Board of Directors.
Then the individual corps do their thing.
Alliances have some real cool abilities you just don't get in a corp. Like for instance, you can gain constellation sovreignty which makes all but one system you own invulnerable to cap ship attack. So you can dig in like an Alabama tick and tell everyone to fuck off.
So it has it's benefits. But there are some drawbacks too. It requires a lot of time to maintain a star empire. For this reason you'll see alot of euro based corps join with US corps to form an alliance so there are always people on to deal with the threats that arise.
I hope this answers your question Bust.
