Comparing paintball and airsoft is like comparing call of duty and ArmA, IMO.

Kiddies like Airsoft, because Parents like Air soft. Not taking any time to actually research anything their children have an interest in, the name spells it out for them AIR-SOFT.
"Oh it must be alright for Lil Johnny, it says Air- Soft..."
Guns are Cheap, have the Orange Thing on the end, and don't need a Parental Waiver to be signed.
Paintball on the Other hand Sounds dirty, Needs Eye protection, Is dangerous and Costs a buttload.

Re: Airsoft
Any respectable field is going to limit a paintball gun to 280-300fps. If you've ever gotten hit with one running 350-400fps at close range before you'll wish to hell you hadn't. I got stitched up my side by someone running bad hot and literally had blood running down my arm. like... a lot of blood. I nearly shoved the gun up his ass and since I was also a ref at the field (not that weekend as I was playing) I had him get his happy ass back to the chrony. We had JUST chronied so there was no way he didn't turn it up himself running that hot. He clocked in ~370ish if I remember right. Had the refs escort his ass off the field permanently. Then I left as well. I'd had more than my fill of idjits for the day.SmokenScion liked this post

Re: Airsoft
Episode two of Blood on the Paintball Field started with a buddy and myself going to an indoor field in Springfield, IL for the first time. "Oh our chrony is down... just shoot over that way. We can tell how fast you are shooting by the drop." I should have known right there. Later I got popped by someone about 20 yards away across the warehouse right in the back of the hand. It was the old ummmm... can't remember the manufacturer... But it was paintballs with a slightly thicker shell and the paint had wax mixed in to make it harder to wipe off. I was picking the plastic shell pieces out of my hand for a week after that. I walked up to the guy and wiped the bloody paint down the front of his camos. He's lucky I didn't knock him out.
