I don't see how molotoving the doorway helps against smokers and hunters. A smoker can drag a survivor through the fire and do much more damage, and hunters also deal more damage while on fire. I mean if you want to protect from random mob attacks, go ahead and throw a molotov. Also, fire can block the survivors' fields of view, while the infected still maintain sight of the survivors. Really, molotovs just give hunters and smokers another advantage here.

I've never thought the molatov was for prevention. It's to possibly kill the smoker before he incaps you, thus saving you. And when you're going down the manhole, DO NOT LOOK DOWN. Looing down makes it harder to actually drop down. Just line yourself up with the manhole and go.
