L4D No sound (but have sound in all other apps)

    Hi
Have had and been playing a lot of L4D for a couple of months. Was fine last night and then fired it up today and no sound at all - not at initial load screen, not at menu, not in game. Otherwise game seems to be running fine. Half Life and Day of Defeat (all via Steam) run normally with sound. Music, videos, system sounds , Skype all functioning with sound. Have made no system changes since yesterday.

Read forums and have attached a dxdiag file if someone would be kind enough to view it.

Already tried running it windowed - no difference.
Checked L4D config.cfg file - but that was already set to windows_speaker_config "4"
Tried lowering video settings and switching sound settings within game - no luck.
    Verified integrity of game file.

Couldnīt find a post with this particular problem - most people seem to have sound lag or stuttering. Any advice would be appreciated as this game is my way to blow off steam after work and I am missing that!

    Thanks.

Verify the integrity of game cache files via steam. If no avail open up the game and go back to your desktop with the game open. Click the Sound icon on your taskbar and select Volume Mixer, Make sure the mixer for L4D isn't low or off.

    Solved!

Thanks Platinum Ninja! Somehow the game had been muted in the mixer as you suggested. Just opened the agme then exited to desktop, opened mixer, unmuted L4D and fixed. Hadn't known it opened a seperate mixer for it as the Steam mixer was OK had thought the mixer wasn't the problem.
    Appreciate everyones help!
