I've found that a good charge can really be a good substitute for a Boomer. Knock away enough Survivors and the other SI can deal a lot of damage. It can even clear the way for a Boomer or Spitter. A Jockey really ought not be the first to go in, on the other hand, even with his knockback.
Even so, the Boomer still reigns supreme at giving the best opening, especially now that player names are removed while biled in L4D2.

I find that all SI is supposed to be able to 'create' a situation to 'distract' the survivors for the ambush. But to date, the only SI I find very difficult to use to create such an opening to be the Jockey. It's quite hard to accurately pounced for a ride, and the so called ride is really too short to get the survivor anywhere. It creates a very little 'distraction' especially against alert survivors.
I find the Jockey works best as the 'last in' SI.
Other than that, I find all SIs can go first, but the Boomer & Charger seems to be the best at this.Less QQ, More PEW PEW?
