My first ski boat
So a buddie of mine is dating a divorced woman and I bought the boat from her for $300 and yes thats right $300.
So it has a shoft spot in the floor the size of a basket ball. It also sat for 7 years. Today I washed the boat, changed all oil and fluids. Got old gas out put new in with some Sea Foam. Bitch ran ruff for about 1 min then ran perfect. Drove it around for over an hour, no issues. I will be fixing the soft spot in the floor this weekend. I got a $5,000 boat for $300. AMAZING!!!!!!!!
It's a 96 Glastron SSV 175 with a 135hp MerCruiser 3.0LX Alpha Onenihilanth311, Hitch liked this post

Haha nice boat BT! When you told me you got a ski boat for $300, I'm not going to lie I thought it was going to be a piece of shit that looked something like this.
Is it powerful enough to go tubbing? I love tubbing.

Re: My first ski boat
Yeah, the woman said they use to ski and tube so it should be good. I figured pulling someone it would run 45-50 mph. I got it up to 57 on my gps with just me in the boat. I have to get a depth finder and another snap on cover along with a canopy cover, have the front part but not the back. Boat even came with ski's & 5 or 6 ropes. The tires on the trailor are also brand new. My buddy went to Iowa to pick the boat up and the tires were super bad. He got new ones at Sam's, paid $230 for them. They was going to junk the boat and I said HEY WAIT I will give you $300. They figured after 7 years it was worthless. I got lucky it fired right up.
It's amazing this boat is almost like new. They hardly used it. Motor has less than 100 hours
EDIT: I dont trust my old GPS but the guage shows me, wife & kid at 42mph and just me around 46, 47Last edited by ~BigTymer~; 10-12-12 at 11:37 PM.

Re: My first ski boat
I was just reading thru old threads here, and seen this one. After talking to the lady that sold me the boat they used it 3 times and they bought it brand new. So it had around 10-12 hours on it over a 16 year span. I had to replace the fuel filter which was 10 bucks. The depth finder did work. I found a bad wire so I took the one I bought back. I also upgraded the tape player to a CD/mp3 player with a flash drive. I didn't fix the floor yet. I didn't know that marine plywood was $100 bucks. I will get to it this winter as we was busy almost every nice weekend tubing. The first time we went out I slung my wife off and she came out the water a cussing. I never pulled anyone on a tube before but she let me know that 40mph on a tube was way tooooo fast. I myself always liked going faster. My little boy got on the tube after the 4th trip, he was to scared before but enjoyed the hell out of it once he got on. To be 4 yrs old he was giving it hell.
Anyway it was still a great steal and a great thing for the family.Son calls Dad a fag.

Re: My first ski boat
Nice find....
It does not take boat owners long to start exaggerating their top speed
