What mods are people using? I've been using Lawns Big Modpack of Doom (hardscope edition), very useful stuff in there. Don't like the audio, so I removed that. But it gives you a minimap that gives you the distance for you to spot tanks and your render distance, very useful, there are count downs on module repairs so you don't waste repair kits, better 6th sense icon to see, and there are a few other things here and there.

Re: WoT Mods
XVM is really the only tool you'll ever need. I know many competitive players use tank skins to show percentages/weak spots/whatever you may, studying the tanks and paying attention to what the hell you were doing in open paid off much better. But some of those guys swore by the skins.
I enjoyed playing this game and getting my own sense of everything and what was going on. I didn't need mods to fix that for me. And I still had the second highest pen ratio of anyone in my old CW clan.Speed. I am speed.

Re: WoT Mods
I enjoyed XVM because it made me realize, early, if I needed to try and carry or not. As many of the greatest players in that game like to say, "You don't want to merely look for a way to kill that guy and survive. You want to look for a way to kill that guy, the guy after him, the guy after him, intercept that medium on the way to arty, and finish the game with 2 health, 1 person alive, 1 track pushing you."
If I'm on a team full of great players I know I can be aggressive and get myself into positions where I can make something happen. If I'm the best player in the game, which is saying a lot because I wasn't THAT great, I need to stay back and support others and let my accuracy and skill try to carry a side.
For this reason, XVM is a HUGE mod. It also allows you to make fun of the noobs bossing others, troll good players, that kind of fun shit.
As per playing, I still have it, I just got out of the loop. When my clan began to die because we had one leader pass away and a few guys hop ship to a better clan, it was over for me. I was in the middle of moving and lost internet for a few months and just lost that drive to play. I do still have like 4 tier 10 tanks and know how to play every one of them (assuming WG hasn't fucked them over, which I'm sure they have) very well. My only issue is quite a few of the guys from 5TH had issues with me after I left, somewhat stemming from me shit talking them after beating them in a CW game once upon a time, and partly because Scoob really, really didn't like me.
You guys still use the TPG TS, right? I'll hop down there some time and show you guys how Russian tanks are supposed to be played! :PSpeed. I am speed.

Yup, we are still in the TPG TS, don't see why we wouldn't be since we haven't been playing competitively. Even then, we could just request a temporary locked channel for when we are.
As far as mods and skins, etc., I don't like the idea of using skins to play better or other things that experience will show me anyhow. My focus is around making my reaction times better and decisions faster and better, such as the timers on top of repairing modules so I know when they will be working again (like tracks), and condensed and shorter crew messages so I know what is happening to my tank sooner, like fire (which also has added graphics for telling me when there is a fire). And knowing my biggest threats around me (XVM). And knowing at a glance what is most likely to be spotting me or what is within' my different ranges (view and draw distance markers).

Re: WoT Mods
See, I guess I just never needed a mod for that. If I get tracked in a situation where a repair kit was necessary, it was an instant pop. No thinking involved. Fire was never an issue as, in CW, I used an automatic extinguisher. I know many guys who refuse to think about playing competitively without the skins, but it just wasn't the same to me to try and use them. I enjoyed learning where to hit tanks on my own and making my own hit maps of tanks to post to others, based on learning, and not the exact codes used for each spot.

Re: WoT Mods
Hit skins were great for starting out players, but once you become more experienced you know what to look for, where to hit, and where not to try and hit. But that was all before the almighty gold round was easily bought. Now it is all fire and forget since gold makes knowing weak spots a moot point. Now it is more about getting as many guns on a target as possible and hope and pray you dont get taken out before your teammates get distracted or completely uninterested in helping you out. Lol
But I woukd recommend hit skins for noob players...at least until wargamming bans them which will be soon.

Re: WoT Mods
Two mods I would suggest looking at are Beals 4.4 for 8.5 mod. And Bizzzs Mod Pack. Both have links on WoT forums, I will post below.
Beals: Wot Mods 8.5 top 25 - World of Tanks Mods & Addons - World of Tanks official forum
Bizzzs: Bizzz's Mod pack for 8.5! - World of Tanks Mods & Addons - World of Tanks official forum
Both have a ton of different things to offer. I plan on taking what I want from both and deleting what I don't want.
Bizzzs has a cool weak spot skin and some interesting sounds. Beals has paint ball effects(which I found useful in 8.4) and a lot of garage extras that can be useful.
Of course there are tons more content in both, so check them out and have a go.
I came across two others that get mention: Engiand's Mod: ENGiAND's XVM Config 3.5.0 - 8.5 - Configurations - World of Tanks WoT Mods - Curse
and Reaper's Mod Pack...which I don't have a link to right off hand.Last edited by Muddog; 04-26-13 at 01:11 AM.

Re: WoT Mods
My latest Mods:
Great cross hair mod with all sorts of usefull information tied to the crosshairs:
soulzas final modded Deegie 8.6.rar
This mod changes the graphics of hits and richochets on your tank and the enemy to a hand red marker or green marker. Very handy if you want to repeat shot placement on some tanks or see where the enemy is aiming on your own tank:
PlazmaKeks World Of Tanks: Paintball Mod 8.6
Anfields XVM. He has some cool features, nothing over the top with his xvm mod:
Anfield's 8.6 Mod Pack v1.2.rar
White tank upon death. This mod will make all dead tanks white. Why would you want to do that? It makes it a lot easier to shoot enemy tanks hiding behind corpses:
White Death by Artasan - Other - World of Tanks Mods - Curse
If you are going to use all these mods, I recommend doing Anfields first and then adding the others. The others will overwrite some of Anfields selected mods.Last edited by Muddog; 08-17-13 at 10:50 PM.
