Thread: SsT and planetside 2

I just started looking into this game tonight and it looks like a good ol' team/squad/family happenin' time. Any of you ol' faithfuls been playing it? It's in beta now and I guess will be released fully Free to play on Nov. 20. I read the last few pages of the Game Discussions TPG thread for it and it looks like there's a decent number of TPGers hopping on board with it. It'd be fun to get an SsT squad going if anybody plans on trying it out.

Free to play is music to my ears. I'd definitely be up for getting it going when it goes free.

I think you'll find it's as close to the good ole days as you can get at the moment. The cool thing is every clan can get every member in the same outfit via the squad / platoon feature where SL's can coordinate an attack or defense via platoon voice also let's say I'm in a completely different platoon but in the in the vicinity of let's say salty and private salty is bent over tying his bootlace when I notice deathgod sneaking up behind to give him a big ole manhug , I can shout at salty via proximity chat ; salty grab both ankles deathgod is coming up behind you. It's also helpful if you find yourself in a vehicle with a non squad mate say a tank you can still communicate with them. Best of all every clan member of every clan can play the same match at the same time on the same side. This could be one instance where we could all roll as a TPG group.

That sounds fantastic! ...well, minus the part where deathgod gives me a...well you know...


Is it in open beta where anyone can test it or is it a closed beta?

Option will have to speak on that matter, I know its closed. But they have to of handed out the beta keys like candy, there's thousands of people playing. I believe you sign up for an account and they send an email with the code of something checks out or what not.

I bought the Alpha pack to get into the Beta. Buying to Alpha pack gives you automatic entrance into the Beta, 4000 station cash, 12 weapon unlocks (Per Empire, Per Class is what is says) Unique Decal (Never gonna use this) And New Camo all on release of game. You don't have to buy it if you don't want to, but that's the easiest way to get into the Beta. Alternatively, you can sign up on their website, and try and get a Beta key by signing up for the Beta. I tried that but never got a Key, so I don't know what your chances are with that. If you feel like you want to drop $40 on this game for the Beta key and a headstart on weapons when the game releases, go for it. If not, try the other route.

Also, don't just stop at SsT Squad. We can get a TPG Squad going when it releases if we get enough people. 12 TPGers all in one Squad, rockin it. I would die for such a chance to relive the good ol' days. And think what'll happen if we can get a TPG Platoon going! 48 TPGers all in one squad, all with voip working, all working together. We'd be a sight for sore eyes.

I might mention that if you buy the alpha deal you'll get an extra key for a friend, so it really only would cost 20 bucks if someone wanted to split the cost. If we used ts or mumble you could times that 48 by any number. Imagine 248 now that would be the shit rite there.

Or you can wait a short time. Totally worth the wait. Unlocks feel sweeter when you earn them. Pulled in a cool 31 credits the other night. Gonna get me a semi auto sniper rifle.

I'm getting more and more excited to play it now. A giant TPG platoon would be killer! And a great chance to foster the leadership skills of squad leaders. Itll take much better leadership when you are coordinating with a group that big. What does the chat look like at the moment. Is there some sort of command structure? Can squad leaders communicate in game with voice?

As for the beta I'll probably just wait til next month when it's released, but I did sign up so maybe I'll get lucky before then. You bet your bippy that I'll be there on launch weekend though!

There are several chat channels to my knowledge. Squad speak, platoon speak, gotta be a commander speak. The VOIP doesn't sound all to great, but look it this way. Its still in beta, its free, it's more then BF3, shitty communication adds to the realism. Have you ever listened to raido chat, that shit sounds like Mukalak blaughbumma hahaha gloqek fuukoo duukoo bitch!!!
