I move around quite a bit, but even in the places where I've spent years I always have a hard (or impossible) time finding someone to properly sharpen my kitchen knives.

I have a variety of knives of different shapes; made from different metals; with different profiles, bevels, and grinds. I'm not a professional (messing about in the kitchen is one of my hobbies), but I like good tools as much as the next geek.

I've been charged outrageous amounts of money for what, in the end, was having a monkey pull my knives through a cheap-ass "sharpener" that I could have bought for less than what I paid to rent the monkey.

If you became good at it, you could probably even pick up a little extra cash as you enjoyed your hobby.
