Thread: Missed tonights match

Shader issues can usually be cleared up by wiping the shader cache in your My Documents\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\cache

Everytime you install an update to the game, change your graphics settings or install new drivers, it re-caches things and leaves multiple copies around. As part of my normal patching routine, I regularly purge those directories completely and have it re-build new a new cache.

Before you join a game, make sure all your graphics settings are how you like them, and then join an empty server, let the caching complete (That way you aren't tying up a slot on TTP while the caching occurs).

As for PunkBuster, I know a new update came out recently for pbsetup (version 3.2) and last night before the match, I ran pbsetup and an update was applied to my BF2 client bringing it up to version 2.086 | A1392.

I've got BF2, 212 & CoD4 and the versions I have are as follows:

2142: v2.057 | A1375
BF2: v2.086 | A1392
CoD4: v2.078 | A1402

If pbsetup is not reporting those versions, or you're not running pbsetup v3.2, I'd suggest re-downloading that and trying again.

I had shader problems as well. I installed and uninstalled special forces 4 times gettting it to work. I kept getting an error message when I would try to load the game that said it couldn't find lighting.fx and it said in the same error to link the shader files. I tried several things hoping it wopuld work but no success.

Tomorrow I will uninstall the base BF2...reinstall and try special forces again. Unless you guys know something elsr I can do.

By the way....when the game was trying to load I never got to the log in screen before I got the damn error message.

I had that problem last night with 10 minutes til match time...

It's a very simple solution. Reinstall the 1.41 full patch.
