Thread: BF 2142

I did the download this am and tried it out a little bit. Man I suck. I was hoping y'all could help me out. Any [SsT] members get on 2142? Also, is there a free download for Northern Strike or do I have to purchase it?

Gotta purchase it, but it might be released in the next patch, like BF2...TTP doesn't host the NS maps anyway so I'd not bother buying them.

As in all things there is flux. For a few weeks, 2142 was back to getting primed in the 5-6PM CST time slot. For the last few weeks, it's been back in the 8-9PM CST time slot. I think that BC2 has pulled a lot of people away at the moment. Once it releases you might see some of them back since the beta will no longer be running and some of the beta users will no convert to purchases.

Also, with more and more 2142 servers closing (game is almost as old as BF2) we'll see a lot of players from other server communities migrating over as well. That is good and bad for a variety of reasons.

The other thing worth noting is this: once BC2 is released, DICE will be able to release the developer(s?) back to completing the final 1.51 patch for 2142. Supposedly this will bundle in the server security and stability changes that BF2 received in the 1.5 patch. In addition to that, there will be at the very least an additional map (though I've seen dev postings that talk of an additional 3 maps on top of that). There are also talks to bundle the NS pack with the patch so TTP can go back to hosting a full rotation (or at least add in some of the NS maps). I would also not be surprised to see 2142 available on Steam like BF2 was. I know that the BF2 community saw a bump when it became available on Steam. I would think that 2142 would see a similar bump or the same reasons.

Wow, that's kinda late. I'll check it out tonight and look for some of the resident clan members to squad up with. Hopefully they are nice to us newbies.

Yeah it is a bit late I agree. But, definitely check it out and jump in with some of the 2142 Regs (Clan or non clan either way). We're all a pretty helpful lot.

Just tried it and got killed by Option Hunter like 5 times. I can't deal with the defeat. Maybe I will try a newb site to get used to the game.
