Ok, maybe our definitions of "tactical" are different. Personally, when I think of a tactical shooter i think of like a SWAT game. You have to analyze the situation, for instance a room clearing. Then you have to decide which tactic to use. Breach and clear?Other entry method? Don't get me wrong, in vs you have to have a strategy and such, so maybe that's could be called tactical, but I don't play vs. much. Otherwise, you are simply running around shooting zombies. There is no real planning unless you just really want to, you mainly just run, shoot, save friends, etc. Personally, I see no need to over think a game like L4D, at least in campaign.

I think trying to assign players to a preconceived role is ultimately self-defeating. It would be more sensible to allow the players to perceive their role naturally. In the real world anyone telling another player what they want them to do is more concerned with their own star status as 'leader' than in the game-play.

Sounds harsh but having played some myself the players will tend to assume what they think is their best role in time. A role that evolves, and increases, as they get more in-tune with the dynamics of the game.

I've seen some players, over the course of a couple campaigns, go from frozen zombies to pretty good players.

I love the hunting rifle, it's my weapon of choice. It's a one shot kill for all common infected, it can cut through multiple zombies, it can shoot through walls, it can be used with or without the scope and it sounds really cool when you fire it. The only cons are the longer reloading time from the other weapons and it requires a bit of skill to use.

If you can use the assault rifle well, then the hunting rifle is a breeze except for...

Small clips, less total ammo and, as you mentioned, that slow reload.

I find I run out of ammo more often on the m16 than the hunting rifle. When I first played the game I always used either the m16 or the auto shotgun. When I used to play it on the pc, the m16 was a lot easier. On the 360 you tend to miss a bit more without the precision of the mouse.

Considering that most players want to be mass zombie killers playing point, I suppose it probably doesn't matter if the hunting rifle has less ammo, as long as you hang back a bit.

Is the aiming on the 360 done with that cross-shaped thing or an stick?

With the sticks, which if your unfamiliar with can take some time to get used to. It's the standard for 1st person shooters on a console. It does the job but I got far more m16 head shots with the mouse and keyboard.
