Not sure if you were referring to versus or campaign, but getting kicked while playing versus on a public server is completely unavoidable. Most of the time you won't get any kind of reason, either. It used to bother me at first, but now it's just a minor inconvenience. When there's no obvious reason, then I assume it's because one of my teammates has a buddy on-line that he want to invite to the game and I got randomly chosen to get kicked.
When I'm on a team and there's a vote to kick someone, I always refuse unless I know the reason. If I do know the reason, I'll announce it when I hit F1. Like I'll say, "Sorry, your mic is hot and we've asked you to shut it off", or "Sorry, you need to go idle when you leave your keyboard." I think that a kindly worded and quick explanation for a kick can help a new player learn the ropes. Though, I hate kicking someone JUST because he's new.
If it's a team-killer or some other form of griefing, I don't bother with an explanation because that's what the griefer wants; recognition that he's upset the team.
Getting kicked in campaign mode is much less frequent in my opinion. You really have to screw up to get kicked, so you'll usually know why when it happens. One time I got kicked solely because I was waiting for the rush to end so I could save the team when they got wiped out at the gas station in No Mercy. It was the middle of the rush and they were all down and I was up in the dark room. They initiated the vote, I said "Don't kick the only person who can SAVE you guys!", but they all hit F1, I got kicked, then they had to restart that map because the only live teammate was now a bot. Dummies.
Which is an excellent example of how players who love to kick-vote aren't necessarily smarter or more talented than you, they just have a majority over you at that particular time.

Playing with splitscreeners can be really irritating. Although when you can get one to help kick the other, it's a great feeling.

I hate playing with pubs and avoid it if at all possible... Unless I'm on my trolling account
