    There are only two scenarios where I think killing teammates is a useful tactic. When someone is low on health about to die like you stated, and if your team gets severely damaged right outside of the safe room. You get everyone downed and restart the chapter.
    Person with the most health goes in safe room, all others stand outside by the door, person in room guns them down

    I understand how to do it, but I don't like doing it. Just like the OP, I find it to be a cheap tactic rather than intelligent or skillful. I prefer to just get as many people in and leave it at that.

    About the Grenade Launcher- Yes, it is a friendly fire nightmare, but it is, imo, one of the best weapons for saving your teammates from a distance and against tanks- and damn good against groups of commons. If you can master it, it's deadly accurate, does 1000 damage against Tanks for direct hits, stumbles all SI, the arc allows you to get Rock Sniping tanks with ease (eg. DaCa finale if it camps on the roof). Heck, you can save yourself from the smoker while being attacked (Sure it's nothing special, but it's funny to be getting dragged and then pops up "Spitter Acid killed Smoker"). I always thought it got a bad rep, but I prefer it to the M60.

    I practically always take one if I can.
