I got mine for $30. :9 I love Promo deals.

They had a special going for college students, that's how I got mine. I don't think it's going on anymore. I got Win 7 Professional 64-bit for $30 and then Microsoft Office 2007 for $45 or some shit. It was a hell of a steal.

Win 7 Pro is $140 at Newegg. Don't see the need for Pro though, unless you need to join an Active Directory domain... Home Premium is $40 cheaper...

+1 same way I got mine. They aren't doing it anymore for Win 7 (that ended sometime in January), but you can still get the Office suite for $45 I believe.

The Windows XP Mode is very useful if you have older programs you need to use, and being able to backup your system to the network drives is really useful too.

    Re: Win 7 Pro

Nice, thanks guys. I'm looking at pro because I support windows networks. So it helps me to have a fully functioning version at home, before I start supporting it. From your experiences does it utilize over 4 gigs? My boss has it at work on his new laptop, and hasn't had any complaints, and my buddy is running a decked out rig with 8 gigs. As well do any of you still own the Geforce 8800 GT series of cards? From what I remember, the 8800 series ran hot under DX10. This is all stuff I normally look up, but it's always nice to hear from the local enthusiasts on ttp.

I ran a 8800GT with my Win 7 Pro for a while. No problems.

    Now I run a 5770.

You using the catalyst set, or a 3rd party set of drivers?

    Re: Win 7 Pro

i got win7 pro with geforce 8800 gts and dx11 w/o problems. i recall downgrading dx for bc2 before the recent patch...I can probably bring my dx back up to 11 now, haven't attempted yet, but I'm guessing bc2 will run fine with it
