Server Wipe October 5th (Vote on options)

Why don't the RLLO group come vote? It won't take much to swing the vote in that direction.

Also, I agree, I am hoping we don't do a reset any more than quarterly.

Civil, I am curious if you have any ideas or suggestions for getting more people in. I don't want to rebuild again but things seem to be dying a slow death and the game is probably the most popular open world survival right now.

It isn't fun for me to be on with three other people and nothing happen.

My opinion is a wipe keep characters is a good compromise and it should be combined with a real effort to bring people into the TPG server through steam community forums and reddit.

I could easily get 5-7 dudes to come vote, or however many are needed to get no wipe to win actually, but I can't guarantee all of them will play regularly. We have built a giant stone base AND a giant metal base. Even with dinos that is a LOT of harvesting of resources. If it takes a month to fully build it, and we are wiping every 3 months, what is the point?

As for promotion we have done none. I am not sure how well posting on reddit or the steam community works, but it can't hurt. We need people to do consistent promotion, and then be welcoming when new people show up, just like every other server.My personal opinion based on looking at servers and reddit is that people care more about multipliers than they do wipes. We may not want 5, 10, or 20x multipliers, but those seem to be the popular servers. It is possible that what we want doesn't match what the random person/tribe is looking for even if we do promote the server. Only time will tell.

Yeah, we are a weird lot. Like you said, time will tell.

I feel like even 10 more regulars gained would go a long way to making things more fun.

The base Cabb, Allaine and I built is massive. It seriously covers more ground than any others on our server and the entire territory is surrounded by stone wall. Main base is three stories of metal. It took a lot. I knew coming into the game that wipes would probably occur more often than I like because it was a game in Alpha so I am not super attached... but man... Cabb and I built that place from the ground up and it was no small task.

Perhaps it's like every other MMO out there.

It's not about the ride to the top... it's the end-game interactions AFTERWARD.

I don't play it but I have played a TON of MMO games and while this isn't exactly the same, it's close. You level things up and go from there. It reminds me on the surface of the original guild wars where. Nobody cared about leveling. You could do that easy. It was all about what happened when you hit that cap and the actual guilds... warring... happened.

If that's the case, then I can see why those high multipliers would be popular. They want to level up as fast as possible and then the real fun begins. I'm the same way with minecraft. I could care less about the gathering crap. I just want to build stuff.

In a sense yes. Some of our guys are primarily builders. You have to have skills, or blueprints, to build, and it helps to have dinos to gather and move stuff. I think everyone hates the grind, so adding it back in just isn't appealing to many, at least the ones I talk to.

I think we're at the point where a wipe has been decided on. I thank you all for sticking around for this. I'll spend some time in the morning on Monday getting the server setup with the parameters close to what we have now, with some minor adjustments based on the top servers at the moment. I have to do a little more research before I figure those out, but when I do I'll post them up right away. Starting soon, whatever strategies you all have for getting our name out there, please do so. It will be greatly appreciated, and I hope it can increase our pop to some decent numbers.

Once again, thank you all for your patience, and thanks for supporting TPG.

As for this weekend. Let's blow some shit up.

Thank you! It would have been nice to have a full server and not have to wipe but things were looking down. I think a fresh start is what we needed.

Whoever is coordinating the effort to get there server out there message me and I will definitely help out.
