Server Wipe October 5th (Vote on options)
All,
In attempts to stimulate some growth, we will be performing a wipe of the server on October 5th.
After the wipe the server name in the browser will be changed to reflect the server settings we use.
I'd imagine that our server name in the browser will reflect something close to what Brock posted.
ex. "TPG, 2.5x tame, other setting, other setting" Keep in mind that none of our settings will be changing at this time, but can be discussed later as these settings are very fluid, and can be changed at the drop of a hat.
The main concern remaining is whether or not to wipe characters too. I've added a poll to determine the course of action for that. On October 5th, I'll check this poll to see where we stand and that's what we'll do.
Thanks,

Re: Server Wipe October 5th (Vote on options)
Thanks for taking the time and effort to try to draw in more people. It is a little sparse right now and some new blood will go a long way to making the game that much more fun.
I know the title can't fit everything but some things that I think would be important:
PVP
TS Server
Tame Rate
EXP Rate
Gather Rate
teamplayergaming.com/ark
So I looked up the longest server name I could find (56 characters I think):
NB1/Freshwipe/PVPonweekend/150lvl/30xall/mods/adminLog - (v2
So something like this:
TeamPlayerGaming.com|Freshwipe|PVP|TS|2.5xTame|Fri endly
There are other people that can probably come up with something better.

Re: Server Wipe October 5th (Vote on options)
While searching other servers (as if I was finding a new one for myself) I included WEST COAST as this is my personal time zone and convenient for me. So in the unofficial server list I found the following that caught my eye...
Friendly Washingtonians US-PvPvE
The word friendly attracts me, as I mentioned I don't like getting crushed constantly. Most of these types of servers have rules set up too. For example, on their Facebook page their top posts explains some rules (ie. don't kill anyone below leve 10, when raiding don't demolish more than 60% of structures, etc.) Most servers include some basic rules (go look and see, it's very common). Some require you declare war in global chat before you intend to raid a tribe. These are some things we might consider and need to discuss BEFORE A WIPE!! I liked this server for more than just its time zone and it's friendly rules, their facebook page also keeps a map (check it out) of where already established tribes are to help new players navigate where to land and start building. They make it clear this is still PvP but that they are a (for the most part) friendly group. They have a population during peak hours of 23-25 players (ideal) and for example right now during down times (noon on west coast) they have 8 players.
They are also only 1.75x tame FYI and have a healthy population despite not having the most popular settings - probably due to several factors but one being they do advertise their server in ARK Steam forums, and sell it as a "friendly helpful PvP server".
I'm not saying I want to copy this, I am saying the TPG vibe tends to be more of a friendlier competition, similar to them and they have players, perhaps keeping the word "friendly" like Brock mentioned is a good idea, as well as posting in these types of forums to collect new people for a fresh server??
Perhaps our own set of (very basic) rules? Thoughts?

I like everything you said Meena. I don't agree with all those rules they have (having to announce war) and not saying you do but emphasizing what kind of people play here would be attractive to many. You would think "TeamPlayerGaming.com" says that but being more explicit might be what we need.
Even if we don't wipe I think advertising and a server name change will be helpful.

Oh I agree that it by itself isn't going to bring a ton of people in. I am thinking of this as the sum of all the parts. We already have the hard stuff (server, good people playing, team speak, forums) and I think there are just a handful of little things that will go a long way to helping.

Re: Server Wipe October 5th (Vote on options)
I figured we'd have a last weekend hoorah and go crazy against bases and other dinos. If that's not the case I can certainly wipe it, but I don't want to leave any opinions or voices unheard. It's only been 1 day.
Then again, if agreed or pushed early, I wouldn't have a problem wiping it prior, but I will be out of town on Friday so I'd need someone else to do it for me.Last edited by Warprosper; 09-30-15 at 12:37 PM.
