I reset my buttons, so now I can click. Go into your controls and under "use selected action" make the button Prim. Mouse Click.

Actually you don't need to drive it, just the get in get out, or get into driver, move to passenger and access the gear from there.

Or just drag items to the ground tab on top left of gear screen. Once it's in there click on the tab and you can right click the items to your gear.
