    Hosting questions for existing servers

Sly gave me a crash course in Wasteland. Since then I've gotten a much better grasp of the gameplay for this specific game type. I'm not crazy about it though as it seems much slower than some other game types. Specifically the lack of deployment to a common location or at least the availability of quick transportation to a rendezvous point really slows the gameplay pace to a crawl.

Right now I'm enjoying the COOP and TEAM missions a lot and I have some interest in checking out the DAYZ mod when the full game releases but probably not until then. I'm interested in applying for an admin position but I'm not interested in being an admin for the current implementation of the Wasteland mod.

    1. Will we be hosting Wasteland exclusively or will we explore other game modes on the second server?

    2. When the full island/game is released will we be upping the player count?

    3. I understand the deployment isn't fully functional at the moment. How much do we expect this to change with full release?

    4. If we aren't able to deploy to a consistent location then will there be air assets added to speed up rendezvous times?

Have you played our Wasteland on our servers? Not just once or twice, but a few days? Compared to something like BF3, it's slower. However, it does vary from game to game whether you find transport right away or not. Stil get's my heart pumping once there are encounters tho. Conversly, BF3-like pace just becomes a numbers/scoring game and I become numb to what's really happening.

If you think Wasteland is slow, don't even bother looking into DayZ. Us Dayz-ers jokingly refer to it as a running simulation. But once you do have an encounter, it is a whole nother level of excitement. Full bore adrenaline. Those who have been there know what I mean. Nothing else like it.

Got that right! How many times have you had to get up to get something to drink cause your hands are shaking too much to play?

    1. TPG will always look for different modes to play. If a new popular mode comes out that fits within our culture we will host it for sure.

    2. Yes

    3. We already have choppers of many different flavors both armed and unarmed. I could see jets in the future but we need a bigger map.

    4. You can always deploy or spawn in on a team mate so long as they are in the radius ring of a major base or town.

I find Wasteland to be as fast paced as you want it to be. Is it BF3 where you spawn and run and gun until you die 30-40 times per hour? No and I hope it never is. Wasteland has enough action and allows for major strategy. At times things may be a little slow where you do not see an enemy player for 10 minutes but in seconds that all can change and you find yourself in a shit storm. I think you need to give wasteland a little more time. Your ideals about the game do not seem to match my experience with it.

Re: Hosting questions for existing servers

I see a lot of mention of Battlefield and COD when I say slow game play. I don't mean that at all. If I wanted those types of games that's where I would be investing my time. I find Wasteland slow because it takes me 10 minutes to get to my team and then another 10 before we reach an AO. In the cooperative modes I've noticed that I spawn and immediately get a chopper ride to meet up with the team. It may still be 10 minutes before I see an enemy but I'm never alone just trying to catch up. That's what I meant by slow game play.

I didn't realize that I could spawn on my team mates. I'll try that tonight when I get on as it would immediately address my issue of glacially slow deployment due to lack of assets (or pilots, whichever). Thanks for the info guys.
