The roll back was not an option for this time. In the future however it is.

I dealt with this fairly often when I was a mod for bmrf. I suggest not offering anyone rollbacks. And at this point it has already been backed up for 2-10 at 6am?

Not that cut and dry. A rollback can, and likely would, cost us some new connects.

When all of this went down, we had a new connect in ts with our group. We helped him get the files he needed, and invited him to stay in our channel so he didn't have to go it alone, and we could answer any questions he had. He scavenged for some building materials for a couple of hours and began building his own little home. A rollback would have killed all of his progress, and he likely would have not come back.

If the server were backed-up just before every restart, it could be an option, but as it stands there would be a price in the form of pissed-off new folks, and one could hardly blame them.
