Thread: Epoch Questions

First night on the server tonight and I have a few comments/questions.

1) Installation was incredible smooth, for me at least. I unzipped everything, launched the game, and logged right onto the server. I was astonished at how well it runs too. No glitchy movements, no lag spikes, stable around 60fps, not even a yellow/red chain like in regular ARMA. The server looks/seems very stable which I am very excited by (though there were only about 10-12 people online).

2) I was shot at by and in turn I killed a few military looking dudes at the Balota Airfield. I'm assuming these are AI controlled military guys? There was also a little quad-copter drone following me around for about a klick. Are these guys at all the military bases? Do they just spawn in randomly? I know about the missions but I'm guessing other areas get ai characters too?

3) Some of the dams I usually got water from in DayZ are all dried up on this version of the Cherno map. Are all the lakes dried up or just some of them?

4) I had a couple empty jars, one that used to have honey in it, but I couldn't fill them up with water at the water spigots in various towns. Can you not get water from spigots anymore? Or do you just need like an actual canteen or something?

5) What's a crypto; just like in-game money? If I kill someone, can I take their crypto or is it tied to their account? I played a little of ARMA2 Overpoch and you could buy/sell stuff and there was like a banker guy you could keep your money with; is that still a thing?

The quad copter was a drone. They spawn at the military locations. You want to shoot it before it makes a fax machine sound and spawns 3 ai on top of you.

You don't need water. Loot around for some soda. It's everywhere. Sell your empty jars to a trader.

Crypto is the in-game money. You can withdraw and deposit at the atms (look for the phone booths in many towns or at any of the trader cities).

That must be exactly what happened then. I heard a buzzing outside the hangar I was in and saw a little thing fly by. Before I knew it I had 3 ai guys shooting at me. I killed one and made it away before the other 2 got too close.

Try to get a bead on them (the drones) before they make the fax machine noise, and it won't spawn any ai. If it does, your best bet is to wax all three, as they will follow you for quite a while (especially if the drone is still tracking you).

The water for lakes in Arma 3 did not port over for the Arma 2 maps, hence dry lakebeds.

You can fill the empty jar with water by standing by a well and double clicking on the jar in your inventory. A screen will come up with craftables on the right. Highlight the water jar and click craft on the bottom.
