Server Setting: Day / Night.
I'm curious to know how many of you like the fact that it gets dark for the last hour / half hour of the server cycle. Personally I would like to see daylight remain in effect for the entirety of the server cycle. Below are a list of the pros and cons of darkness that could come up with.
PROS:
1) It adds to the reality / immersion of gameplay.
2) Items such as NVGs and Night Vision Scopes are more than just placeholder items.
CONS:
1) Darkness changes the way that players react to any given situation. Whether players become more aggressive or become more passive during the nighttime, each situation now has the added variable of vision limitations. Because the darkness effects each player differently, it adds another an unnessary varible to the overall balancing of the game / server settings. By it's very nature, this game is unbalanced. Each PVP / PVE battle already has numerous variables that dictate how easy, or hard the given situation becomes (Firepower, range, Area of the map, cover, camouflage, weather, ect...). There is no need to add more instability to the over balance of the server and the players experience.
2) I am one of many players who boost their Gama the second it begins to get dark out. I actually prefer to use this method of correction because it doesn't limit my field of veiw as much as Night Vision Goggles do. Because there is currently no way for the devs to prohibit a players ability to boost their Gama during the nighttime, I now may have an unfair advantage over another player, who hasn't boosted their Gama. Yes it's a cheap tactic, but I will use it every time I can if it raises my ability to see my surroundings and potential threats.
3) Because Darkness makes everything a bit more difficult, I believe it may hurt the overall population of the server ( It's definitely not helping anything). I've been playing ARMA survival mods for many years. I have heard on numerous occasions, "Lets go to this server because it's not night time yet", or "It's dark out, Let's wait till it's light to go there". Over these many years, I have yet to hear anyone complain about daylight being an issue.Last edited by Rooster050; 05-04-15 at 11:55 AM.

Re: Server Setting: Day / Night.
I like Day and i like night.... what i don't like is getting caught in the east side of an engagement during that half hour where the sun is setting. If you play with gamma set for realism, it can be a real bitch to make out enemy against the background as it can appear all black, whereas the same area viewed from the west is still fairly well lit.

Re: Server Setting: Day / Night.
Many asked for the night cycle to return when it was removed when we cut the restart time s from 4 hours to 3. I like both modes and can play in either. If there is a strong feeling for one style/ configuration over the others we can always adjust things.

Re: Server Setting: Day / Night.
I like the night. but with the short 3 hour server cycle it gets annoying that you cant set up assault or defend properly in the dark without the risk of the server restarting in the middle of a fight. I vote night to be removed until a much longer server cycle can be achieved.

Re: Server Setting: Day / Night.
In the old days of DayZ night vision googles are one of the most valuable things to find so if we don't have a night we can aswell remove them from the loot table.
Leave the night cyclus on the server or better extend it for a bit longer because i among others love to play at night ( i am not gamma warrior cause for some reason changing the Gamma does not work for me).
