Re: Article: My Professional Opinion of the Android Platform and Current Implimentati
as i said in the OP. I prefer the android OS over all alternativies. But again, as i said in the op, I am critiquing the platform. Giving points for improvement.
and to infer that one cannot critique something just because its the best choice out of a given subset its moronic and "ridiculous". If that methodology prevailed we'd still be rolling with Edison original light bulb.
And denial if root is HARDLY knit picking. Imagine buying a windows laptop and being denied administrative privileges, unable to uninstall bloat-ware bogging down your machine... Oh wait i explained this in the article, why am i even bothering.

And again, this is a gaming community, i posted my opinion on the android OS relevant to the audience. If i made a blog post critiquing the actual OS, the SDK, and the OS architecture which is in desperate need of revamping, I would not do so on a website which targets gamers. After all, I can count the folk here who would understand it on one hand, let alone appreciate it. *Target Audience*

The killer app for me on my Droid X is K9 Mail with GPG (encrypted email) which you can't get on the Iphone. It's a geek phone with a lot of options. The only major gripe is Iphone supports Cisco IPSEC (VPN) out of the box whereas Droid X is lacking. Again, just based on my geek needs.

Good write up. I have 4 different android devices and have had 2 others as well. Currently have a Nook, Nook Color, HTC incredible, Viewsonic G-Tablet.
I've had MANY windows mobile devices (including a couple phones) but as yet haven't had a windows mobile 7 phone.
I've also had a touch and iphone 3.
And I hesitate to include it but I've also had a couple of palms in my past.
So my hands have been in the mobile OS field for quite a while. And I can almost agree totally. I'm a little more lenient with android's garbage collection. I think it works well enough. But definitely has room for improvement. It's definitely leaps and bounds better than the competition though. And that's enough for me to keep picking up new android devices that catch my eye.
It's definitely the best of the bunch.
