Polychromos colored pencils
Another corvette... cuz why not...
Giving polychromos pencils a shot (oil based). Wasn't real fond of the prismacolors because of wax bloom and just wasn't fond of the way they laid the color down or blended... These I'm kinda liking.
Got about 4 hours into this one so far... Figure about another 4 to finish.

Re: Polychromos colored pencils
I was basically just looking through the corvette nation group for good pictures... I wanted something to draw to test these pencils and figured I'd pick one out that looked good and was a bit of a challenge (this color doesn't have an equivalent pencil... I'm mixing 2 and 3 different pencil colors to come up with that teal color.) Then when finished, if it turned out I was going to give it to the person who's car I chose. I had another one chosen and then I remembered this one and that the guy has a special needs daughter so he was likely not in any position to commission any work himself... So I figured he should get it if it turned out good.
I'm not particularly fond of the graininess of colored pencils but I'm using turpenoid to blend these with a small paintbrush and it takes just enough of the graininess away that I think I like the results.

You've got a good heart, Kanati.
As for the blend, I'm happy when people try something different. Photo-realism is impressive, but it's sooooooo common, and lots of people are faking it with digital trix rather that creating it with old-school analogue skill. I've begun to appreciate the affectations of a style created in a physical medium.

Yeah. I am starting to fall away from the photorealism myself. I like it and will still probably do it with graphite, but it's overdone by people that are good at it, but not great. I fall into that category... I can do it. But I'm not great at it. The ones that are, are phenomenal. But if it's as good as a photo... why not just take a photo?
Sometimes it's good to be able to see the brush strokes or pencil lines.
tonight's update... didn't do a whole lot. Just didn't have the mentality to be drawing tonight. Hoping to finish it tomorrow though...
