That is the same with every multiplayer game though. That was also sort of my point. In campaign on CoD you need your teammates to heal you, and without them you are dead. It just didn't bring me any new experience that I thought it would. I bought this game for its proclaimed uniqueness and introvative FPS qualities that have "never been seen before".

How do you toss their guts in the air? When I shoot them the most that happens is with a close up shot, blood gets on my screen. Sometimes their head comes off.

I plan on giving this game some more play time, and yeah I like the tanks, witches, and boomers. It is just kind of dissapointing that their are no close hand combat weapons like a knife or something.

I have seven days to return it, so I guess I will see if I fall in love.
Really? Compared to the other games you mentioned, l4d is the most realistic looking game. Prototype was released last week or two so the graphics have a stronger system.

    l4d2 has melee combat weapons

The fact that the entire game encourages cooperation, which breeds great friendships. Blasting through the arcade-like campaigns with online friends are some of the greatest online parties I've ever had, and the campaigns are very exciting.

Versus mode requires an amount of skill and coordination that no other shooter provides, but that only adds to the reward of mastering its intracacies and killing the enemy. Playing as the infected is incredible, and like Team Fortress, cooperation from the different classes is required to win. Mastering each class is great, and trying to survive as the survivors is incredible.

The game's four campaigns change completely with different teams. Just about everyone who you will play with has a diferrent way of dealing with hordes, the tank, crescendo events, and routes through levels in general. Experimenting with different types of teams and players results in completely different game experiences.

The game takes more skill than any other multiplayer game that I can think of. Coordinating an attack and matering the classes is essential for winning, meaning the entire team has to build a bond to succeed. Cooperation is ESSENTIAL.

If you are playing without a mic, then you are basically crippling your experience. The game is based entirely around interactions with other players, so you NEED to talk and laugh with others. You wouldn't play an MMORPG without the ability to talk to people, would you?

Er... no. In CoD you can run off without your teammates and own, on any difficulty. In L4D, run off for one second, get pounced or smoked, and it is lights out.

I can't remember the last time in CoD in which a teammate needed to be right next to me and instanlty react to something on top of me, or the last time in CoD versus in which coordinating and attack was the difference between succsess and failure. In CoD, camping is the key to victory. In this game, you need to constantly be on the move, and as the infected, constantly on the prowl. Moving so quickly means that more cooperation is required. You need to move forward to win, so you also need to keep track of how far along your teammates are. Go too far ahead or drag too far behind, and without your teammates, death is imminent.

In the end, PLAY THE GAME WITH FRIENDS. This is just what the game is about. It isn't like CoD or Halo where it's based only on personal skill (One player can decide a victory or defeat in team slayer or team deathmatch), it is based on the skill of ALL the players. If there is a weak link, the team will fall apart.

So, in the end, this game requires ALOT more teammwork, considering one weak teammate can kill a team. Let a teammate die in versus, and your attack is ruined, or worse, you will lose a TON of points.

Gamers who care more about the action or graphics than being social will hate the game. Players who like having a good time with friends and others will love it. L4D is either a great game or a terrible game depending on this one trait, are you a lone wolf or a groupie?

Best stuff about the game: The Versus gameplay, the adrenaline rush when one of your teammates mess up, the ragequitters, and the huge playerbase.

The OP probably plays with bots and is on a 13" CRT built 20 years ago.

If the Xbox graphics doesn't appeal to you (when they already look awesome), why don't you build yourself a good rig, buy L4D on the PC, and play there.

Instead of whining about how much the game looks horrible and how the bots act so retarded and you want three hits to kill you like in CoD5 or Halo 3.

I play it on an xbox , and I use a wireless mic. I also just play online, so I don't think I am playing with bots. I am gonna give it some time so I have not completely shunned the game.

What makes me love it? All the kids in the lobby talking trash end up signing off rage-quitting when you show them up on the first level.

What makes me keep playing it? The competition - really - gamebattles is keeping a fair chunk of the population active.

The ragequitters and Joes you meet everyday on L4D is the spice of dish. They make the game a whole lot better.
