Looks like you have figured out layer styles! Good.. they are essential in my opinion.
I noted your assasins creed guy is very dark, and the Texas logo has the default color for "outer glow."
You can double the box that has the color for glows/shadows and it will open up a color chooser so you can make glows/shadows any color you want.
I gotta say though, I am using photoshop 6.0 (like 1999) because it works fine for me. these kids (and maybe even you!) are probably using newer versions that behave differently, so I hop I am not steering you wrong.
Also, your background is very vivid, you could mellow out the tone a bit by using "color overlay" style on the background and making it black and then adjusting the "opacity" of the "color overlay"

The image background is ok. The problem is with the characters you pasted on top, which are very poorly cut out...take your time and make sure you find a picture where the lighting of the background dosent effect the image you are cutting out. Also they are very choppy, the need to be smoothed out with either a soft brush or the laso type tools.
