Formating ones Signature, Tips and tricks
Ive been getting asked a lot of questions about how i line my signature up with text and such so i figured that i would post it for eveyone to know:
Lets start with how i made my current signature:
_________________________________________________
It started out as a feeling, Which then grew into a hope, Which then turned into a quiet thought, Which then turned into a quiet word, And then that word grew louder and louder 'Til it was a battle cry
_________________________________________________
Ive done this by using a table, we can use tables to help save space in our signatures and keep the same amount of content that would other wise be dubbed as a large siggy. The bb tags for the forums work the same way those in html do, for those of you who have never worked with html ill start from the beginning:
There are 3 tags we can use:
Code:
tr is used to tell the page that everything between the tags is a row
td tells the page that everything between the tags is a column
To make things simple lets go ahead and name our image and text {img} {txt} (you can replace these later with your real image and text).
To avoid trial and error by entering your signature into your profile then viewing a page you posted on you can preview your signature code by clicking 'new topic' or replying to an existing one, paste in your signatures code here and click preview to see how it will look. Youll find this easier and avoid loosing text since the signature block will remove anything over the set character limit, when we get the sig the way you want you can just copy it to your profile.
lets go ahead and create my signature now, from what i posted above i have a table with 1 row and two columns:
lets make our table code:
Code:{img} {txt}
Code:{img} {txt}
Code:{img} {txt}
But what if you want to have a image and two quotes? No problem, lets think this out you'll want two columns, but one column with two rows. Lets try putting the two row tags in the second column tag, since we want to have two rows in there
Code:{img} {txt}{txt}
Code:Originally Posted by ...bigdog...
look at our new quote:
Code:Originally Posted by ...BigDog...
Code:{img}{txt}{txt}
Image tags can be costly as well depending on where you host them, look at these two image url's:
Code:Code:
Not sure if this is the proper place to post this but it seems the most fitting, if anyone wants to see something added or something done in the tutorial just let me know!

Re: Formating ones Signature, Tips and tricks
The disclaimer should be at the bottom of the signature, although it is important to include, it's not the first thing the email recipient should see.
Name.
Job title.
Company name (optional, if appears in logo)
Phone number.
Email address.
Website.
Company address.
Email disclaimer (check out if you need one)
