That probably wasn't the best way to handle the situation. He was pinned and I'm sure that the two guards could have either talked him into handing the baby to them or immobilized him and took the baby back safely. Maybe they feared he was going to harm the baby in his agitated state and wanted to end the situation quickly. I don't know. It's hard to comment on situations like this unless you were actually there and saw what they saw.

Unless the father posed an immediate danger to the baby, I don't think that the hospital had the right to keep the baby there.
