Thread: Best way to shrink in game videos?

I'm going to start trying to record some of my littlebird skills. While playing around with fraps its generating about 100mb per 10 seconds under the 1/2 size 30 fps. I want to keep quality but make it possible to upload to the youtubes without going overboard on sizing... Pref vids to maintain 1080 resolution...

Thoughts?

You can compress using a program like handbrake...

You need to compile them together. Some of these videos are 10-20 files in length. For compiling, I used VirtualDub. Once that was completed, I used Windows Movie Maker to compress them. It is part of the Live Essentials package thing from Microsoft's website. I have no idea if I am doing this right or not. But, it works for me. I usually have a file size of about 1.5-2GB for the finished video. I then upload it to Youtube which takes quite a few hours.

The total process is going to take you a few hours. With the right software and hardware it is easier, just takes awhile.

Good point. I'll more than likely build bigger runs instead of short clips so I can send the upload off overnight. I'll check out moviemaker. Any experience on what format youtube will take that consumes the least amount of space for same quality?

You can check out some of my videos on YouTube. There is a YouTube format in that moviemaker. They are 1080.
