Thread: New Year's 2142?

With a good number of old regs returning with BF3 and after seeing a few posts here; does anyone think that having just a short run with starting up another instance of 2142 for everyone here?

Personally I can't think of a better way to start the new year than with a titan exploding in your face.

Going back to such a great game that did everything right that just never had the hype behind it would be a great experience for everyone here, maybe even a couple new guys who never REALLY played 2142.

Also, if we do do this how will it be done? A passworded server to keep ourselves free of the hackers outside, or allow those last few hardcore 2142ers to come enjoy a real teamplay environment.

What do you guys think? Yes, no, not now?

I'm going to be playing 2142 all night; if anyone wants to join in I'm sure w/e server we are on we will be dominating as the teamplayers we are.

Add me as FragRaptor if you want to find me, but it shouldn't be too hard given the amount of servers :X

2012 just counted down right as my team won a narrow titan game on verdun.

Our team lost it's shields first, they held the titan very well I kept going for the silos. Eventually their shields dropped and we killed their first 2 consoles but they held console 1 well. I got off the titan for awhile to get silos, sometimes we got them all, sometimes we had mixed silos. Somehow our team broke through silo 1, while our titan never dropped a console. I immediately pushed all in for the titan told the commander that we needed to push everyone there now. A few of our team stayed on the ground and held a few silos. It looked grim because we weren't breaking their core (Apm mines and RDX in great places) our titan just hit no visual health. The enemy took silo 3, I thought it was over the missile would hit it was over... I typed GG. I then spawned headed down the vents to give it one last hoorah. Silo 4 was taken by the enemy it is impossible. I turn to look at the core.... it is absolutely clear we have 4 guys awkwardly moving up... I type in all cap "GOGOGOGO GET IN THE CORE!!!!" we make it in there. 1 person puts on rdx... nothing... I put on rdx.... not enough... the enemy takes silo 5... I frantically run around looking for ammo... someone else puts on RDX... nothing time is ticking... I find ammo... I manage to throw and blow up 2 RDX... someone else does the same thing... and the enemy titan core blows... Holy shit, did we win?? The titan destroyed text says that "Our titan was destroyed" but that only means one thing!!! The enemy titan was destroyed before that! Sure enough we saw the enemy titan blow up after the game was over.

Next thing I know I look at my clock it is 12:00. Turn on the televion I got to catch the last 40 seconds of the ball dropping. Epic. Exactly what I wanted, to end the year with a titan exploding. Only wish it could have been with a few teamplayers...
