If you were looking at the same direction as him or you were both looking at the same person and you just decide to take the shot anyway and just take out the enemy along with you teammate thats called douche baggary... If I was blind sided and didn't know he was behind me then yes its unintentional but when your going after the same guy as your teammate in my book I would definately be calling for some answers on why that actually happen.. Sorry is a meaningless word when you knew exactly what you did you just trying to save your butt...
I should have prefaced the rare-ness more clearly heres a more indepth situation that I find acceptable (And not kill whoring).

Mmerritt and I along with Steggy and War are defending A on Karkand. Steggy and war have posted D side of the flag, Mmerritt and I have the back alley of A. Mmerrit spots a squad flanking and we head into the alley he wastes the first with his clip a second appears he pulls his pistol and empties it into the next 2 (Fucking rambo style), as he's reloading Tenrou pops out of the alley, I'm aware he's reloading BOTH weapons and only has C4 or Knife at his disposition (Both won't suffice) and I have a snap judgement to make, do I A ) Let Mmerritt reload and hope Tenrou doesn't kill us both leaving the back flank open to a squad bomb, B ) Kill Tenrou (and as a byproduct potentially Mmerritt (only to revive him instantly) therefore defending the teams flank or do I C ) Retreat to a side alley (2seconds away) to hopefully not get killed and be able to return fire upon the newly spawned squad.

I leave the judgement to you and I really do state I have maybe had to do this 2 times in my 100+ hrs of playtime, I chose the most efficient and team-beneficial route I deemed at that moment. Judge the situation as it appears not in hindsight.

EDIT: You mention blindsiding too which may pertain to this - although often I am in the front so I'm the one that gets blindsided.

I will always revive directly after, offer apologies and whatnot - it may only happen once in a while but when it arises its always better to shoot down my squadmate (I preface - Squadmate who will not survive) and take down the enemy over the enemy killing both of us rendering my squad useless against the spawn bomb that particular player may bring.

This tactic (IMHO) is no worse than killing a B/W teammate in L4D2 to use the defibs on them to further your teams chance of success.

EDIT: Specifying the Rare-ness of this actual situation...

Nice to see someone 'who get's it' and not just the usual dogma being spitted. This only would occur in confined spaces like those found on some BF3 maps.

@Mobius, this is only relevant in confined spaces where 'moving over' is not an option and the death of your teammate and yourself is imminent. BF3 has lots of places on the urban maps where this can occur.

And if the end of your post was implying that the tactic would be used by me to gain more points, well let me just say you can go and F@^& Y$%@^%$#@.

You've known me since (Bf2?) BC2, when have I ever just been a run gun guy? I'm very strategic in my squads attack strats and often won't kill enemies to infiltrate a point. I kinda wish this game had stealth take points... That would be awesome.

when its defending thats fine but when your attacking and moving in the general direction and the back guy see the guy while the front guy easily has the drop on him.. and the back guy just lights his teammate up with out remorse just to get a kill thats where the line should be drawn...

Trigger I read your comment as 100% dash kill and revive... scandal.. that could have happen... its good for defense but can be used for douche bag tactics... Sorry for the miscommunication... I can be forgiving in game unless I get shot in back of the head when I was trying to kill a guy rushing to cap a flag....then run off as a medic and not revive.. or revive and not say a word.. of apology...

This game will make a TK'er out of the best of us. As was probably said already, it takes a keen understanding of the game to know and recognize the difference between intentional and accidental.

Accidental's happen to and by me frequently. I shrug them off or apologize depending on who got hit.

The most common method of TK (at least in my experience)m is a squaddie that spawns directly in front of me while I'm in a firefight.

Or those damnable and never sufficiently cursed rubber grenades.

Why is it always me that spawns on you to a barrage of bullets, death and maniacal southern laughing...

    I'd like to apologize...

to Zoran for causing one of your TK's. My situational awareness isn't the best; in the heat of battle, and especially in CQB, it is virtually non-existent. I really do try not to run in front of teammates while they're firing, but it happens.

In truth, I find that I have to type "My fault" more often than "Sorry."
