The gray area comes from the guy in between not being on top of the enemy in the first place. So the two most likely situations are:

    - Enemy kills guy in between anyways, and has the drop on you already.

    or

    - You take your shot, possibly to the detriment of the teammate in the way (who is likely dead if you don't shoot anyways) and now you are alive so that either the squad or squad leader can spawn on you, or you can revive the teammate after the fact.

I wouldn't say its a common situation from the time that I've played, but it sounds like the second option would be better given the circumstances.

When did you guys get the Foresight Perk?

I only argue these points As I have been in this situation MANY times. I don't currently take the shot. And I get shot quite a bit in the back. So I am really trying to be clear on this. So if I start implementing a Shot on all occasions policy in my game play is it okay, or is it a bad idea. It sounds like a horrendously selfish tactic.

I just know that some tks are overlooked to be accidental but its happened repeatedly... where if I was the person being constantly tked by the same person over and over.. I would think he's just a bad player to play on a squad or on my team because he can't figure out how not overreact to quick issue because some battles already been handled.. New players I don't mind.. its the players who have alot of time on this game that can't learn to think and shoot and with out A steam rolling over your whole team.. just to get a flag with an apc... (you know who you are) I don't know what the tk map stats are for seine crossing but theres probably less tks in the server now than in the start because more people are learning how to control their fire...I hardly tk people on the map I get like 1 accidental tk every 2 maps I play and I play about 6 rounds on the server... quit being sorry remember watch your radar and pay attention to detail....

Like you this happens to me many times as well. My response to a TK in this situation is, "Please tell me you got him!" or "Cool, you got him, its all good". Every situation warrants a different action, and there is a difference in getting or receiving a TK while rushing B on Bazaar or advancing to G from D on Oman. In many cases in those tight urban battles, taking your time and being overly cautious can cost you your whole squad. Especially with the average caliber player on this server, they are aggressive and give no mercy, flinch and your dead.

I would agree with another poster that its collateral damage, not from wild abandon, but aggressive focus on the objective and eliminating immediate threats to achieving that objective. Depending on the terrain and available cover one must assess the risk and benefits of taking the shot and possibly taking out a team mate. 99% of the time this occurs to me i understand that i was in a position of measurable risk, and the TK was in no way done with malice or disregard. 99% of the time the guy who TK'd is on no way happy about it, but relieved that the greater threat to the objective has been eliminated.

This. I wouldn't necessary advocate shooting through a teammate just because he is in your way. But (quickly) assess the situation and whether the varying degrees of risk of hitting or killing a teammate is worth it. In my eyes, there is a huge difference in this and a run of the mill ITK, which is usually done with malicious intent (to the teammate, as opposed to the enemy).

The cowboy is right. Use your head to assess if a tk is the only option left, and if it's really needed. Oh and make that choice in under a second.

I need to think my post out more when I haven't been drinking. However, I have told people that I"m fine being tk'd when there's a clear "I'm going down and shooting thru me will kill him before he takes us all out"...

This is usually said to reg's that have more than half a clue...
