Man sues to shut down YouTube.
Well, right now you can go onto YouTube and watch entire movies as well as listen to entire albums worth of music. I believe you can also download them with some of the programs out there. And I see that as a big problem. No one's going to buy a movie in a store when they can legally watch it on YouTube or buy a CD when they can legally listen to it on YouTube. A lot of HD stuff is getting uploaded now as well so quality is becoming less and less of an issue.
But at the same time, I like to have the ability to watch clips from movies I've seen or am interested in buying as well as to sample music.
If YouTube removes all of the videos of TV shows, movies, and music, it's popularity will plummet. If YouTube, continues to allow large chunks of movies and albums to uploaded, even less people are going to go out and buy DVD's and CD's. There's no easy answer but I can't see YouTube getting shut down.

Pfft.
I watch shit on their all the time. And I would most definitely rather pay for it than depend on YouTube for my movie fix.
The quality is shitty, the picture is tiny, the sound is awful... If anything, it makes me WANT to get a DVD so I won't have to watch this insult to the film makers.
And the same with pirated DVDs. I got Transformers and Die Hard 4 from a guy my dad knows who bought them from a guy he knows. Or some shit like that. Watched them, enjoyed them. Going to go out and buy both of them when they come out, not in the least because of Special Features and the like.
Transformers was what I was expecting a pirated DVD to be. Audience noise, screen off center, sound tinny... but whoever did Die Hard was a fucking master. The picture framed perfectly, the sounds was great and there was no audience noise. Felt like I was watching a legit DVD, really. Only after it was done, I couldn't see the deleted scenes and shit.
