... what's changed? might it be a firewall issue?

All firewalls (Comodo-BitDefender) either in "game mode" or stopped, exception rules checked, Pnkbuster A and B running, Game Booster running, evidently re-installed and cleaned registry.......... Maybe I'll try de-install everything and re-install everything solution...
