Re: CQC...Who's buying and who's not
One of the reasons I joined TTP was for the fantastic community. They were a group of mature(ish) people with a few concrete goals: Have fun, play hard, work together, win together and my favourite, help/support each other. I'd join in and hop into a {HRD} / [SsT] / [IRON] squad and I knew the squad leader would have voip, that they had a plan and by god you would have fun. The forums were brimming with tid-bits of information, sneaky tactics and ballsy games. We'd share stories of pwnage and stories of woe in a nerdy orgy of video-game gooeyness. My love for the community was so much so I app'd for {HRD} and was overjoyed that I could were a TTP clans tags. The server I knew was strong, united, free of hackers (mostly) and glitchers (mostly) and most of all team orientated.
That being said BF2 was never really that good of a game. The hitboxes were shit, the graphics akin to a crayola's factory floor and the physics dubious at best. The game was flawed, much like all of us. But it was our game, so we made the best of it. We'd play till 2am hopped up on beer, caffeine and comradery. We made the best of that lame duck know as bf2. BFBC2 was fun as all get out but missed the mark on many many things. Bf3 the same. But somewhere between BFBC2 and BF3 we as a community took a nose dive. I barely recognize the group I loved, and I try desperately to cling to that idealist nerdvana that was ttpbf2.
I think I'm resigning to the fact that the forums aren't the place for me anymore. Maybe it's the absence of my favourite people that makes me so disdainful towards these forums, or maybe I've simply changed. So adios BF3 forums, I'll see you ingame where I'll happily chat away and BS about the fun we're having, and talk tactics and more.

Re: CQC...Who's buying and who's not
It wouldn't decide the fate of anything.....it would seal it.
I refuse to put one more penny into EA's pocket. Not because I hate BF3....my nearly 500 hours say otherwise, but because they refuse to give us any support. That "waa waa" you talk about has done more to support TPG than Dice ever has....especially with BF3. The forums bring in advertising pennies, while EA decides to sell "premium" access to OUR server instead of reserved slots....as promised. "Waa waa" pays the bills, and helps keep the server up. EA fucks us at every opportunity.
That's why I'm not buying the "premium" bullshit.

Re: CQC...Who's buying and who's not
I understand where you are coming from, as I typically hate EA as well..
But in reality when has a game 100% lived up to TPG's standards without the community support.
imo the game is damn fun and probably the best fps out there right now. I will be purchasing the pack because I will have fun with it, not because I want to support EA.

I think perhaps you don't understand the gravity of Dex's point.
How does TPG (or any other community) continue to pay for servers when the developers are selling access to said server that TPG pays for and cuts TPG out of the loop entirely?
That's the ultimate slap in the face of all of this, over and above everything else. We pay for the server. All its associated costs. Resource time to setup and maintain and administer that server. For nothing. There is no way to recoup or offset any of that cost through rslots and now dice goes and extends to anyone, for a fee, preferred access to our server without even asking.
And here's another thought...might be unimportant but might not, individuals that we have banned from the server could have premium accounts. Does the premium access status let them connect and therefore kick someone legit off of the server before procon sees them and boots them. There's a disruption and an easy way for asshats to troll servers that they are banned from.
