I have loved flying ever since the 1990's "Red Baron", through several years of BF2, and now in BF3.

If you want to expand your flying skills beyond what I share in this video, google offensive and defensive "air combat maneuvers" (ACM). Spend some time studing and practicing what you learn.

Keep in mind that the slower speed and physics of the BF3 jets are much like the combat planes of WWII. Therefore, ACM's that were effective in WWII are likely to be effective in BF3.

edit: so are you saying you don't use the mouse to fly? I tried that for about a minute before I hit the land 2x and gave up.

edit 2: Think like an eagle? I think I"m more of a caged parakeet.

edit 3: Keep my eyes on? I'll work on that. Hard to fly with my eyes off.

edit 4: Epic mid air parachute kill; nice flying!

Pretty much all there is too it, seems similar to pervious tips we've had here, though I wasn't aware you go off the radar even without the below the radar upgrade.

I'm not big on flying into the attack after the missle is released. There is something to flipping in your own ECM, not sure what, but a number of times I do this and watch the missels circle around my jet like electrons then fly off.

Try to keep some distance after you disable an enemy, you can still try to finish them off, but you get enough time to brake an pick off the ejectors.

Not saying not to use a mouse... "Pitch up" is assigned to both the mouse and spacebar. Use the spacebar for maneuvering and the mouse for smaller and aim adjustments.

Doom you are right about the distance thing. I did not do as well at that in the video and got a lot of disables. The "fly into your own ECM" works but is harder to do with the jet than with the chopper and is not consistant. That being said, I have not found a consistant way to shake a missle after the patch. Tight 300-315 speed turning seems to make the missles fly by the most often though.

I loved that game too. Taking out the Gunship in Armored Kill reminds me of those Zepelin destroy missions in Red Baron.

Indeed its not constant, but there has to be some move paired with the action that we are doing on and off. Like inverting back in BF2, maybe its in the angle of attack or what not.
