The train wreck really goes back further than just BF3 though... It all started going downhill after the BF2 release...
April 2001, DICE acquires Sandbox Studios (renamed DICE Canada). September 1, 2004, DICE bought Trauma Studios, renamed DICE New York (the guys behind the Desert Combat mod for BF1942). They were brought in to help finish up BF2. November 2004 EA announced they were acquiring DICE. On March 31, 2005, EA owned 62% of DICE's stock. On June 7, 2005, DICE announced that they had shut down DICE New York (Presumably because the work on BF2 was essentially done.) June 21, 2005, BF2 ships. In November 2005, BF2: Special Forces ships (Developed by DICE Canada). In October 2006, EA bought out the rest of DICE's stock and it became a wholly owned subsidiary that we know now as EA Digital Illusions CE. EA's first task after this acquisition? They close DICE Canada. Later that month, on October 17, 2006, EA DICE releases BF2142..
See a pattern here?dex71 liked this post
