Spec Ops
Why don't we have a tactics thread?
Those special moments we see a squad working together the games seems to revolve around them dominating the round.
So what Spec Ops are out there?
Mortar Team
4 support, 4 mortars
Carpet Bomb
A recon sets up a radio, while a support with C4 parachutes in dropping a line or cluster of C4
I can get a pretty packed group
Bot Repair
When a tank will be relatively stationary, drive an EOD bot under it to repair it all the time while leaving the engi out of the combat zone.
Missile Team
2 engis with Javs, a support, and sniper al position to have the sniper laser designate target for the engis while the support resupplies and covers against incoming infantry.Last edited by SovietDooM; 06-12-13 at 04:29 PM.

Because people bitch about team stacking when people work together.

There is a difference between working with random fellow teammates and purposely trying to be on the same team as a friend or clan mate so you can work together and dominate. I don't care what anyone says, players of superior skill are supposed to be held to a higher standard. This is the same on all TPG games and the Battlefield series shouldn't get special treatment. "Even teams" has always been a major standard at TPG and the skilled players know when they are stacking with their other skilled friends or clan mates.
Not saying you can't play with your friends or clan mates at all, but to continue to play round after round together when there is an obvious problem with teams, then that is bullshit. Suck it up and be a teamplayer. You don't have to squad up with the same 3 people every time you play. This is not that big of a problem at TPG, but I could name a few skilled players that always seem to be on the same team and don't care when they win round after round.

Re: Spec Ops
For me it comes down to this.
Am I losing? Is it over and over and over? Does it feel like a challenge I could overcome (the kind of losing I like and will continue to play)? or does it feel like the other team are just picking on us like bullies and beating us down? If its the latter I leave.
Am I winning? Is it over and over and over? Are the teams being fixed to solve the problem ( I see winning over and over as a problem because its boring to me and doesn't serve the purpose of why I play)? If they aren't being fixed, I leave.
Different ways of getting there but the result is the same.
I think the ultimate goal of the server is to get people playing on it, and keep the player count up, and also try to get people coming back to regularly play so we continue to get challenging games for all. Team stacking usually doesn't serve that purpose. That least that is my view on why the server exists and why TPG would continue to host it.

Did you guys not read this part of my post?
All I was getting at is that we, as TPG regulars, should be conscious of even teams. It seems that in BF3 everyone just relies on "team scramble" or whatever the auto-balance software we use. I find it funny that you automatically assume I'm talking about you Gato when I've only played with you a handful of times. Tenrou is just a troll and wants to create drama. But yea, key phrase is "this is not that big of a deal at TPG".

In my opinion, Battlefield 3 lacks so much finesse that special setups are either counter-productive or not effective at all. Sure a mortar team of 4 can do something, but that's 4 players who could be Engineers doing the same job while getting flags at the same time.
The furthest tactics really get taken is the occasional well-placed spawn beacon. Unfortunately, once the person who deployed it respawns, the beacon explodes, so the Recon either needs to be extremely fastidious about re-placing the beacon, or needs to stay out of the fight, once again removing a much-needed player from the battle.
Most of my tactics come down to hitting two flags at once with one squad to force the enemy team to split up defense forces and waste their time trying to take out a relatively small threat. It just takes advantage of the mindset that "Hey, that point is blinking, there must be a million people there, let's send EVERYONE". They either split up forces, or everyone heads to the same flag. If we had squads of 6, this tactic would work a lot better, but we don't have that option."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."
