I think it was a pretty good interview also. I mean so far everything I've seen and read has been going in the right direction. It's exciting, though then I become skeptical reading the facts of the past.
Enf I really don't have any logical response that would be helpful, as I know less then you do most likely. For me it's hard to come up with a reason why a company like EA would have such problems with integrating VOIP. I mean it's not like hadn't successful put VOIP in a game before. They did it perfectly with BF2/2142. Did they get lazy? That's the only really assumption I can come to.

Not much, lazy programming or programmers. No real reason not to have it... Not to mention there's existing solutions that are really cheep and easy to use, like ts3 (have sdk). Though EA has a hard on for owning all IP and rights to their products (though wasn't the server browser interface for bf3 third-party?)... Even still after coding the audio engine, voip should be chump change, though they might have to write the codecs, not sure if royalty free exist... But they did for bf2 and their server browser for bf3...?
Im just gonna speculate that it's not a priority, and some ceo said don't worry about it.

This might sound stupid but could there be something to them integrating it with the sounds in the game? Ergo a big explosion right next to you will make you only hear a high pitch and have the regular sounds fade back in... Possibly a limitation with making it work alongside that sort of thing?
