    Re: Taking a Break

I would test the PSU as Bravo said....every time I've seen issues like this that you can't pin down it ended up being a bad PSU or a bad motherboard(usually caused by a bad PSU or power surge). Any decent computer repair shop should have a PSU pin tester that can test all connectors. PSU going bad can make either(or both) GPU and motherboard look bad, when they are actually failing due to loss of or fluctuating voltages, instead of anything inherently wrong with the hardware itself.

If the PSU checks out good and If you know anybody that has a decent rig that lives near you(or have another of your own), have them run with your video card for a bit and see if they can recreate the problem...if they can then it's the vid card, if not then it's more likely your motherboard.

I've been wondering what ever happened with your BF3 gaming problem.

Ever figure it out? Anything to share that we might know in case someone else has an issue? I see you in the BF4 server.

    Re: Taking a Break

I have an older model 7870. Not old enough to have the black screen issue, but not new enough to be without problems like the newer ones. I think it has to do with shifting power states in the GPU itself that causes a crash/lock, as it happened twice in Skyrim, which barely taxes my card.

BF4 regularly crashes my entire system, but I attribute that to the game, not my hardware. I'll say more when I'm home.
