Maybe try the patches and kill the utility to see if fixing it at the OS level works better than the utilities workaround.

Either way, between the two of yoos guys, it seems that people may have some decent options. Hopefully they help.

Core i7 930 Bloomfield @ 2.8Ghz
6 GB (3x2GB) 1066 MHz DDR3
1TB 7,200RPM media drive
5870HD 1GB @ 850MHz (running version 13.9 drivers)
1920x1080p all medium settings got me 30-40 fps

Same specs, only difference:
760 2GB @1072MHz (running version 327.23 drivers)

Result at 1920x1080p all medium settings still getting me 30-40 fps

same performance, and still have at least another GB of RAM and CPU's only running at 60-70% capacity

Sigh... gonna install Windows 8.1 tonight and the beta drivers. Wish me all kinds of luck.

Au contraire I'm not having any trouble with the game, of course it's not all shiny and sparkly but it plays for me and I'm fine with it.
