Some basics about classes...
Assault is primary your goto for keeping your squad leader alive. He's the guy who cab heal and revive. Make sure when reviving the coast is clear, a fast revive will revive someone to 20% health, hold the defibs longer for a more healthful revive. They will be mainly mid field to close range fighters, they aren't designed to be a squad killer but they aren't shabby at it either.
Support is the squad killer. Hand held Gatling guns make mince meat out of soldiers fast, these guys also keep your AT and soldiers pockets lined with bullets. These guys are great medium to short range but deal the best damage when setup in a choke point.
Recon guys wear a few hats... They are snipers yes but they have a very important task of tagging enemies (that spotting scope is thermal so it'll help show your squad where the enemies are and of course laser enemy armor so you AT guys can wreck them! Long range is the best defense the recon has as he is often an overwatch and a spawn point for the squad leader.
Engineers are the heavy hitters they are meant to go boom. Tanks or air it makes no odds, combine him with a recon and a support and enemy armor will quite literally quake in his wake. Sadly his weapons are usually on the weaker side, his combat range for infantry is close, for armor its close to far. Added bonus he can repair you car for free!
A good squad will know what's best for each situation. A good squad leader will guide you if not. Spawning green with meds can mean life or death as can be spawning green with AT.
Just a little reminder - always spawn green.
