Thread: As much as I like BF4, I hate it.

I don't know what it is but I just can't like this game as much as I want to.

To start it has glaring bugs that shouldn't have made release let alone still be around 2 weeks later.

-There are 2 Conquest maps that have serious sound issues. Sound just goes in and out at will. Very distracting and annoying.

-The game is ALWAYS crashing. I check for update everyday and repair the game through Origin and still crash. I crashed 4 times last night in a matter of 2 1/2 hours.

-There has been a few times where I get stuck on a death. I die, get revived. I see the hit space to accept revive, mouse to deploy and nothing happens. I switch teams and nothing. I have to leave the server and come back. Yep, lets keep adding to that wonderful Quit %. Makes it look like I quit out of every other game when it isn't me. It is non-stop crashes and bugs.

Those were just bugs with the game. As for things I just don't like, there are plenty.

-Pistols. The starting pistol is better than any starting rifle. If it didn't have such a small clip, I swear everyone would be using it for kills. It is ridiculously overpowered (P226).

-Bailing Out. Not playing BF3 or really much of the Bad Company games, I may just not know to get used to this. But for as much work you put into disabling a chopper, only for the pilot to bail out and you get a minimal amount of points. That is bogus. It is also rare you actually get to destroy it before it plummets to the ground. Makes it even worse when you have the attack choppers with repair men in the back, making it damn near invincible.

-Spawning. Yes, I played a lot of Call of Duty back in the day. I like to play some TDM/Domination from time to time without all the jets/choppers/mbts/lavs running everyone down. It is impossible on some maps. The respawns are erratic. You can literally spawn in between 8 enemies. Or they can spawn right behind you. I have seen times on TDM where enemies spawned right in front of me over and over. I stood there just watching them spawn and run off. I couldn't bring myself to stand there killing them on their spawns like so many prefer to do. It is utter chaos on parcel storm when playing TDM.

I dunno maybe I just need to give it some time and let EA/Dice fix it. But as it stands there is too much in the way for me to truly like the game.

Not sure if there's any truth to it but someone last night said he crashes more if he joins on a friend instead of joining a server. Wouldn't hurt to try. I've only crashed a handful of times since release. Server itself has crashed more than me.

Yea, I am not sure on that. 3 of my crashes last night were when I was playing solo. The 4th came later on. I was playing with a friend but he joined the game I was in. He crashed before I did though.

I am surprised. I have only seen 2 servers crash on me. One was TPG the opening night of BF4 and the other was a random one that next day. Haven't had one go out from under me since then. I just get the Battlefield4.exe has stopped working mess.

co-worker fixed his crashes dead by having the game launch the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version... might want to try that too.

if we ignored games without crashes and bugs we would never have had the gem 2142

I read this and rolled my eyes.

We play the same game, and we are aware of the issues. From what you say, it seems like you crash more than the average player. That sucks. You love it but you hate it?

Have you perused this forum of the many similar posts and fixes other players have posted about? I have, fixed a lot of my issues. More than that, a week after launch EA did a pretty good job of fixing a lot of the major issues. A week later, a lot still needs to be fixed. I am very confident that issues will continue to be resolved in the coming weeks and months.

Not happy about it? EA doesn't exactly set the industry standard for outstanding products upon release. Shouldn't be a newsflash for anyone here, yet we all bought the game.
