Re: Officially done with BF4
You and your damn squad... and Allane's damn squads... are the bane of my existance.
I think it was saturday on zavod. I looked right at you and got a one shot shotgun to the face. Then sfri did the same thing right after I think. Shotguns + 12 guage double aught buckshot SUCKS!!!
But it proves that there are very legitimate reasons for getting one-shotted tied directly to the weapons you are using.

Some things do disappear when you die... Rockets typically do... even if they're fired at a stationary target. If you're in the process of throwing a grenade when killed, it's trajectory is altered and any of your team it ends up killing get credited to the enemy who killed you. Lots of weird mechanics in BF4... I don't get annoyed by the simul-kill... I just laugh and say... you may have gotten me, but I got you too.

Exactly. I shotgun blast close range should be a one shot. I don't know if anyone has seen someone IRL that has been shot with a shotgun close range, but I can tell you it isn't pretty. I have seen plenty of gunshot victims but ones involving shotguns are always the worst.

Which rocket? Ones like the SRAW that requires a lock on all the way to target SHOULD nosedive or otherwise go off the reservation. If it's an auto lock-on then I don't know why that would happen.

Re: Officially done with BF4
I think if the game is ultra frustrating you... taking a break is a good idea. You play the game to have fun and if you are coming out the other end with anxiety and anger it might be worth it to go to something you might enjoy more. Give EA another couple weeks to iron things out. Maybe use the time to make sure Windows is updated, firmware and drivers for your hardware are at their latest versions, clean out anything that might be running in the background, etc.
I don't see all the stuff you do, but that is the nature of PC gaming. EA and other PC gaming developers have to make a game for an unlimited number of platform configurations and their associated internet bandwidth and speed. It isn't an easy thing to do. They have delivered the game with the mechanics we had hoped for. Large scale war with a commander, VOIP and a sense that strategy is making a difference. BF3 compared to BF4 is night and day... I really notice the difference when playing with a squad that coordinates vs one that doesn't. That feeling wasn't there in BF3. I think this has a solid foundation and I am going to stick with it.
